Under 19 Ladies Cricket Team to Defend Trophy in Botswana

The Namibian national Under 19 ladies cricket team will be leaving for Gaborone, Botswana to defend the eight nation’s tournaments trophy that they won lasts year. This year the tournament will be from 24 to 27 August. This annual tournament is a highlight for under 19 women’s cricket.

The Namibia U/19 ladies team will be at the coast in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund from tomorrow until Monday for their last training camp. The team departs to Botswana on 23 August.
They are the defending champions after their victory last year in the eight nations tournament against Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Sierra Leone and a South African invitational team.
They will play a T20 match format match against a Walvis Bay invitational team tomorrow at the Walvis Bay Cricket oval at 09:00. On Monday the team plays a coastal invitation team in Swakopmund at the municipal cricket grounds. This game starts at 09: 00.
The Senior Namibian National women’s cricket team will leave for Zimbabwe on Sunday (20 August) for warm-up games in Harare. The Namibian team will play four T20 games on Monday and Tuesday and then return to Namibia on Wednesday. There is a possibility the national team will also play two T20 warm-up games on 3 & 4 September against the Kenyan women’s national team.
All these warm-up games are in preparation of the International Cricket Council Women’s Africa T20 Qualifiers that is played from 8 to 16 September in Windhoek.
Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will compete in the Africa T20 Qualifier with the winning country and possibly the second placed country as well, going through to the final qualifying competition.
