Vehicle theft

On Wednesday afternoon at around 14:15, the vet Dr Freddy von Ludwiger’s Toyota Prado was stolen at his home in Swakopmund’s Otavi Street. Thanks to swift action by the Swakopmund Neighbourhood Watch, the vehicle was retrieved in Vineta.

Dr von Ludwiger told the Namib Times this week he always leaves the car’s engine running when he closes the garage doors. It takes some three minutes, but on Wednesday it was just those few minutes the thief needed.
Dr von Ludwiger praised the Swakopmund Neighbourhood Watch for their action and commitment and expressed relief that the vehicle was retrieved without damage and with the key still in the ignition.
A case of vehicle theft was opened and the Namibian Police is now hunting for the car thief.
