Walvis Bay Open
Destination Swakopmund was in the driving seat on Saturday 22 September.
As to be expected the field was a tad smaller than usual but the opportunity was there to pick up some merit list points whilst most of the big guns were missing in action at the Walvis Bay Open. Clive Lawrence produced 2 x 2-clubs on Number 12 and Number 3 whilst the winners came from our “Ou Garde”.

Wednesday 26 September was beer and jaggies day sponsored by Weiss Hardware – thanks Erik we appreciate you’re long standing relationship with Rossmund. Weather conditions were just perfect – with some lovely sunshine to brighten up the day. There was a 4-way count out for the “Longest Day” – in the end this went to Bubble Burns. Chris Heunis took the laurels for the Back 9 making 19pts – well played and great to see you on a Wednesday.
The overall winner was Neil MacLeod freshly returned from a few weeks away managing to shoot 38pts despite having some trouble with his putter; Ouma Gaby won a count out over Ouma Rina both having scored 37pts. As always, a great day was had by all.
Saturday 30 September was Monthly Medal Time sponsored by Novanam – there was a good turnout of players wanting to play some real golf and enjoy the much-appreciated sunshine. Michael Ludeke had 2-clubs on No.6 and No.12 whilst Desmond Frankfort succeeded on No.7.
Michael took the Overall Medal with a score of 70 nett showing that he is definitely the man to beat this year. Results: Overall – M Ludeke 70nett (c/o); “A” Div – A Bonifatius 70nett (c/o); “B” Div – B Saunderson 75nett; “C” Div – L Stevens 71nett:

Wednesday 3 October – Tyre Corporation were up and running as sponsors it was great to have Chris Durant with us to enjoy the day. The weather was just picture perfect for golf after the past few weeks of cold and wind. As always there was a good field of golfers out there enjoying the course and a few hours away from the office.
Nearest to the Pin Prizes went to Willie van Zyl on Number 7 and Gaby Adams on Number 12 – in passing she mentioned it was the first time she had ever reached the green J 18-hole winners were Fritz Coetzee on 37pts with Kevin Wentzel close behind on 36pts whilst Achmet Abrahams won a three way count out to take the 9-hole prize.
Doubles Match play – this appears to be well behind schedule – George gave the draw a going over at the weekend and has completed the necessary walk-overs. So please have your next round completed by the extended date 14 October.
