Waterfront falls silent

The Walvis Bay Waterfront has gone quiet since Namibia stopped all flights to and from the country as part of a response to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Tourism businesses and the accommodation industry are hardest hit, as they have bookings for the weeks and months ahead, but these people cannot travel to Namibia.
The situation is also rapidly worsening for businesses in several other economic sectors. Worst fears are that businesses, especially in tourism and accommodation will start to retrench, spiralling the problem down to the rest of the economy.
