WAYNGIO Golf Day
The WAYNGIO golf sponsored day (sponsored by Wayne Hart and Sergio Fig) drew only a smallish field of 29 players.
The field might have been small and the temperature not higher that 16 on the course, but on the course the golf were cooking and 52 points for a better ball is a whooper of a score. Karl who had been in the doldrums for a few weeks now found his ‘a’ game and shot the lights out and probably will be a shot or two lighter from today. Well done to David Peake and Karl Beukes on the great 52 points. Second place went to Wayne Hart and Wouter van Wijk on 49 points with the third prize going to Herman Neethling and Piet van Niekerk on 46 points.
There were three two clubs on the day – Wouter van Wijk, Kevin Wentzel and Kevin de Reuck. There were 4 closest to the pins and there were won by Bertie Coetzee, Amandio Sardinha, Wouter van Wijk and De-ville Dreyer.
Wouter had a great day out, with lots of prizes to take home. Wayne was present to hand out the prizes to the winners, David Peake and Karl Beukes.
The biggest penalty one can get in golf. It is a 28 shot penalty for grounding your clubs in the bunker and this went to our Vice Captain Andre Burger last week Wednesday, and then he complained for having to partake for the worst round in our OMSIC Wednesday competition.
Our next planned social will be – a Night At The Races, and is now re-scheduled for Friday 2nd August. Watch this space for more details. The Walvis Bay Golf Club’s AGM is coming soon and all members are requested to think to make yourself available to stand on the committee, we need some new blood with fresh ideas, so please really think about it. The date will be advised as soon as we have one set.
