Welwitscias thrashed

Welwitschia was thrashed by Wanderers with 157 runs in a cricket premier league game in Windhoek last Saturday.

Wanderers piled up 257 runs of their 50 overs with Captain Nicolaas Scholtz scoring 87, and dismissed the Welwitschias for 100 runs to complete a comprehensive victory.

Mauritius Ngupita took three wickets for 39 runs, while Groenewald took three for 53.

Welwitschias were in trouble from the word go as Jan Izak de Villers bowled Scott Winburn for a golden duck and then the rest of the top order was dismissed to leave Welwitschia struggling at 46 for four wickets.

Matthew de Gouveia added 20 and Reynard van Zyl 15, but Welwitschia was never in the reckoning and were all out for 100 runs. Rossouw took three wickets for 24 runs off 10 overs, while Gerrie Snyman took three for 28 off eight over’s for Wanderers.
In another match, CCD Tigers moved to third after they beat Trustco United by 22 runs.
