Walvis Bay born cricket player Zhivago Groenewald took a total of 14 wickets and was crowned the best wicket taker at the just concluded 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 Africa Qualifier hosted in Botswana that saw Namibia and Botswana advanced to the 2019 ICC World Twenty20 Africa Regional Finals that are scheduled to be held in Uganda in May 2019.
Namibia played six games of which they won five and lost the final game against the host nation Botswana.
The results were as follows;
Namibian 2143/4 vs Lesotho 35 all out with Namibia won the game by 179 runs. The next day Swaziland bated first and could only get 72 runs with 6 wickets in their 20 over’s the Namibians won the game as they made their 74 runs with all the wickets still standing and thus won the game with 10 wickets. Zhivago Groenewald was the player of the game.
The next game Namibia beat Malawi with 8 wickets with Jan Frylinck the players of the games.The game against Mozambique was won with 125 runs with Lohan Louwrens the player of the game and the game against Lesotho was another big won for Namibia as they beat them with 179 runs.
St Helena could only manage 90 runs all out as Namibian won the game with 90 runs. Namibian team however lost the last game with 3 wickets against the host Botswana.
The Namibian batsmen Lohan Louwrens was crowned as best batmen with 243 run with Zhivago Groenewald as the best bowler with 14 wickets of the tournament.
The countries that will participate in the 2019 ICC World Twenty20 Africa Regional Finals are host Uganda, Botswana,Ghana, Kenya,Namibia and Nigeria.
