Despite a challenging debut campaign in the FNB Women’s Super League, Walvis Bay based Desert Foxes Football Club chose to celebrate resilience, growth and commitment during its annual Banquet and Awards Night, recognising the efforts of its players, coaches and supporters.

The event honoured outstanding individual and team performances while acknowledging the dedication, discipline, leadership and sportsmanship displayed throughout the season. Club officials described the evening as more than an awards ceremony, saying it was an opportunity to celebrate every player’s progress, thank families and sponsors for their unwavering support, and inspire the team for the future. The Walvis Bay-based club endured a difficult first season in Namibia’s top-flight women’s football after earning promotion in 2025.

Desert Foxes finished the campaign without a victory, recording one draw and suffering 21 defeats, resulting in relegation from the FNB Women’s Super League. Although the results were disappointing, club leadership remained optimistic about the future. Officials pointed out that the squad featured many players aged just 14 and 15, viewing the season as a valuable learning experience and an important step in the club’s long-term development. “There is no shame in being relegated. To be relegated, you first have to be promoted,” the club said, reaffirming its commitment to continuing its youth development project. Desert Foxes’ promotion story remains one of the club’s proudest achievements.

The team went unbeaten to win the Erongo Women’s Football League before claiming the Central and Southern Zone promotion play-off tournament at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium, winning all three matches to secure a place in the country’s premier women’s competition. Looking ahead, Desert Foxes FC will officially resume training on 14 July 2026 as preparations begin for the upcoming RND Holdings Soccer Tournament. The club has invited both returning and aspiring players to join its growing football family under the slogan, “Be Part of the Pack.” Training sessions will focus on improving fitness, technical ability, teamwork and tactical awareness as the club aims to strengthen its squads for future competitions.

Club officials believe the tournament will provide another valuable platform for players to gain experience and continue their development while proudly representing Desert Foxes FC. Parents and guardians are encouraged to support young footballers interested in joining the club, while prospective players are invited to attend the first training session. With the message “One Team. One Dream. One Family.”, Desert Foxes FC remains committed to developing young talent and building a strong foundation for sustained success despite the setbacks experienced during its first season in the top division.
