Erongo Region Governor Dr Nathalia Goagoses has reached another milestone in her distinguished career after being conferred with a Doctorate in Business Administration by ESC Pau Business School in Pau, France.
The achievement comes as Goagoses continues to lead one of Namibia’s most economically significant regions, reflecting her commitment to academic excellence, lifelong learning and public service. Appointed in July 2025 as Erongo’s first female governor, Goagoses has earned recognition for her determined leadership style and commitment to regional development, with many referring to her as the region’s “Iron Lady”. She recently revealed the achievement during the official opening of Horizon Primary School in Swakopmund’s Democratic Resettlement Community (DRC).
Speaking in the presence of the Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Dr Sanet Steenkamp, Goagoses told attendees that she would soon be addressed as “Doctor”, receiving applause and congratulations from the audience. Goagoses said her new qualification would strengthen her ability to make informed decisions as governor, particularly in areas such as economic development, public resource management and regional investment. “As governor of one of Namibia’s economic hubs, it is important to understand how businesses operate, how industries contribute to development and how government can ensure communities benefit from economic activity,” she said. She added that evidence-based leadership is essential, as academic research enables leaders to develop policies based on reliable data rather than assumptions.
The governor also encouraged Namibian youth to embrace life-long learning and continue investing in their education. “If you have completed Grade 12, pursue a diploma. If you have a diploma, pursue a degree. Never stop learning. The future of Namibia depends on knowledgeable and skilled citizens who can drive industrialisation and economic growth,” she urged. Goagoses said education remains a powerful tool for both personal advancement and national development, calling on young people to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their goals. Reflecting on her achievement, she said she hopes her academic journey will inspire more women to pursue higher education and leadership roles. “As a leader, one of my responsibilities is to in-spire others and to break barriers so that those who come after me can believe that anything is possible,” she said.
The governor expressed gratitude to her family, colleagues, mentors and the Namibian people for their support throughout her academic journey. She added that she intends to continue her studies and is already considering pursuing another doctoral qualification.
