Dâures Office Continues Wildfire Response
Daures 2

The Dâures Constituency Office says it is continuing to coordinate emergency response efforts as wildfires continue to affect grazing land, livestock farmers and communities in the area.

In a statement , Regional Councillor Hon. Inecia Brandt said the fires remain a serious concern and require cooperation from all stakeholders. She said recent efforts by different role players have already helped to bring some of the fires under control.

According to the statement, the Erongo Regional Council has deployed available resources to help fight the fires. The Council also secured assistance from the Namibian Air Force, whose support has played an important role in containing the fires and protecting affected communities.

The Dâures Constituency Office has been working closely with local farmers, traditional authorities and volunteers to coordinate the response on the ground. To improve future disaster response, the Constituency Office will continue working with the Regional Emergency and Disaster Risk Management Committee to strengthen community fire squads in villages across the constituency. This will include training, the supply of firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as community awareness programmes on creating firebreaks and preventing wildfires.

The Constituency Office thanked the Erongo Regional Council, the Namibian Air Force, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, local volunteers, traditional leaders and emergency workers for their ongoing support in fighting the fires.

Residents are urged to remain alert and report any smoke sightings immediately by calling 081 421 1687.
