La Muela Edges Maranatha in Thrilling Polo Showcase
2

La Muela Polo Club delivered a winning performance on Saturday, edging Team Maranatha 5–4 in a thrilling four-chukka exhibition match that combined competitive polo, fashion and elegance at La Muela Polo Estate.

The second La Muela Polo Exhibition attracted guests who arrived dressed in their finest outfits, adding glamour to an afternoon of sporting action and social celebration. On the field, both teams displayed their skills in a closely contested encounter, with La Muela holding on to its narrow one-goal advantage despite a late push from Maranatha. The final chukka provided an exciting conclusion to the match, keeping spectators entertained until the final whistle.

One of the highlights was the participation of an eight-year-old player, the youngest on the field, who impressed with his communication and contribution to La Muela’s performance.

La Muela Polo Club founder Till Jeske described the exhibition as a success, saying the main objective was to showcase the sport and give spectators an opportunity to experience polo. “We play for fun, and we were a little bit lucky today,” Jeske said, reflecting on the hosts’ narrow victory.

He added that the close score made the win particularly enjoyable, with the teams sharing a competitive but friendly afternoon.

Established by Jeske and his wife, Agnieszka Sambor, La Muela Polo Club aims to introduce more Namibians to the sport and create opportunities for its development.

The estate features a full-size 5.5-hectare grass polo field, Argentine-style stables and 24 polo horses imported from Argentina.

For some guests, the exhibition was their first experience of polo. CastleBet representative Tobias Naule praised the atmosphere and organisation, encouraging more people to attend future matches.

The second exhibition follows the inaugural encounter in April, when La Muela defeated Maranatha 8–6 in front of more than 500 spectators.

With sport, style and social entertainment coming together once again, the exhibition strengthened La Muela’s efforts to grow polo’s profile in Namibia.

The next exhibition is expected to take place in April next year.
