The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has confirmed that all Namport-sponsored leagues for the 2026/2027 football season will officially kick off on 7 November, following a rescheduling of the start date.
The official launch will take place on the same day at Kuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay, with the association urgently calling on league structures, clubs and other stakeholders to finalise the necessary documentation to prevent further delays.
In a notice issued by Acting General Secretary Mabos Vries, the NFA apologised to its members and stakeholders for its earlier communication dated 14 October 2026. The association said the outstanding information and documentation were urgently required to enable it to submit the necessary details to its sponsor, Namport, for the finalisation of sponsorship arrangements and logistics.
All league structures have been instructed to submit their confirmed 2026/2027 league schedules and fixtures, ensuring that their respective competitions are ready to commence on the revised date.
The request also extends to clubs, league structures and the National Referee Committee, which are expected to provide the required information to facilitate preparations for the new season. The NFA emphasised the urgency of the process, as the outstanding administrative requirements are linked to the planned official launch and the smooth commencement of competitions nationwide.
The confirmation of the new date provides clubs and league administrators with a clear deadline to complete their preparations, including fixture planning and the finalisation of the necessary arrangements. With the opening date now set, attention turns to ensuring that all participating leagues are administratively ready and that the 2026/2027 season begins as planned.
The NFA has urged all relevant stakeholders to cooperate and submit the required documentation without further delay. Photos: Archive.
