The 1313 Mac’s Familia Namibia motorcycle club has once again demonstrated that the spirit of brotherhood on two wheels extends beyond the open road, making a meaningful contribution to community welfare in Walvis Bay through food donations.
The club recently handed over essential food supplies to support a community feeding initiative run by Ryan Gordon and his team in Narraville, while also making a significant donation to the Kuisebmond Old Age Home. The gesture brought relief, excitement, and renewed hope to vulnerable children and senior citizens who depend on community support. According to club president Rainie Mostert, the donation is a heartfelt way of recognizing Gordon and his volunteers for their consistent efforts in caring for those in need.
“We would like to thank Ryan for all the good work he’s doing. We acknowledge it, and that’s why we see fit to sponsor. The food you see here is to the value of five thousand Namibian dollars. It might never be enough, but every bit helps,” Mostert said.
The donation forms part of the motorcycle club’s ongoing commitment to giving back to society, an initiative largely funded through the annual Fish Eagle Rally held every September in Walvis Bay. The rally attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from across Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and other countries, with a significant portion of the proceeds directed towards charitable causes. Mostert explained that most of the proceeds from the Fish Eagle Rally go to charity. “Each year, we nominate organisations to support. Planning for this year’s rally has already started. This is what we do and what we stand for: we love bikes, and we love giving back to the community.”
Mostert also emphasised the club’s values, saying: “We are bikers, not gangsters. We love riding bikes, but we also love helping people.” Gordon expressed his appreciation for the donation, highlighting its direct impact on the children who benefit from the feeding programme. “This will stretch far. We can feed many children for a long period,” Gordon said. “For some, it may seem small, but for these kids, a bag of rice means hope.”
