Blue Waters Football Club has officially ushered in a new chapter with the appointment of Spanish coach Ruben Pinto Jimeno as Head Coach ahead of the 2026/27 Namibia Premier Football League season.

Jimeno arrives at the coastal club with a wealth of experience in youth development, senior team management, tactical analysis, scouting, and sports administration. Renowned for his commitment to modern football methodologies, discipline, and structured performance planning, the Spaniard has built a reputation for developing players from grassroots level to elite competition.

The new Blue Waters mentor holds a Pro Coaching Licence obtained through the Association of Argentine Football Technicians (AFTA) under the CONMEBOL confederation. His qualifications are further strengthened by Diplomas in Sport Psychology and Sport Medicine, while he is also a certified FIFA Sports Administrator.

Before making the move to Walvis Bay, Jimeno gained valuable coaching experience in both Spain and Cameroon, where he was involved in football development initiatives and coaching projects.

Blue Waters also took the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of outgoing coach Armando Pedro, thanking the club legend for his years of dedication and service. Pedro guided the team to a commendable sixth-place finish in the 2025/26 Namibia Premier Football League season, laying a solid foundation for the club’s future ambitions.

In welcoming Jimeno, the club expressed confidence that his expertise and leadership will help drive Blue Waters forward as it seeks to return to the upper reaches of Namibian football.

As part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming campaign, Blue Waters has also confirmed its technical team for the 2026/27 season.

Former Blue Waters midfielder and coach Lucky Shipanga has been appointed Assistant Coach, where he will work closely with Jimeno in implementing the club’s football philosophy and supporting player development.

Thomas Mvula continues in his role as Team Manager, overseeing the team’s administrative and logistical operations.

The goalkeeping department will be headed by Moses Niimengobe, who takes on the role of Goalkeeper Coach, while Hendrik Somaeb has been appointed Fitness and Conditioning Coach, responsible for player fitness, physical preparation, and injury prevention.

Player welfare and medical support remain in the capable hands of Vivian Xoagub, who serves as Team Medic, while Fischer Kalimba will continue ensuring smooth equipment operations as Kit Manager.

With a blend of continuity and fresh leadership, Blue Waters believes the newly assembled technical team is well equipped to support the club’s ambitions during the 2026/27 campaign.

Supporters will now be eager to see how Jimeno and his backroom staff build upon last season’s progress as Blue Waters targets greater success in the seasons ahead.
