Young footballers in Walvis Bay and Rehoboth took centre stage as Build it Walvis Bay and Build it Rehoboth, the newest additions to the Nictus Holdings Limited Group, hosted their first-ever Under-13 Soccer Fun Days.

The two events, held on 19 and 26 September respectively, brought together school teams, families, suppliers and community members for days of football, school spirit and community engagement.

In Walvis Bay, 10 teams competed, with Narraville Primary School claiming first place and Tutaleni Primary School finishing runners-up. Immanuel Ruiters Primary School was recognised as the Most Disciplined School and also won the banner competition. The Walvis Bay event was hosted by Atlantis Sports Club in partnership with Playtime Namibia.

In Rehoboth, the tournament attracted 14 teams, with JTL Beukes Primary School taking first place and Ruimte Primary School finishing second. Usib Primary School received the Most Disciplined School award and also claimed the banner competition.

The Rehoboth event was hosted by JTL Beukes Primary School. The Rehoboth event was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Christel Swartz, who performed the ceremonial first kick.

Councillor Dawid Keister delivered an encouraging message to the young participants and spectators, while Council Vice-Chairperson Janet Nowases also attended. The events also provided an opportunity for communities to engage with Build it suppliers, who shared product knowledge and practical building advice.

Together with their suppliers, Build it Walvis Bay and Build it Rehoboth funded the Soccer Fun Days and provided prizes for the winning teams. “It is a privilege to be part of these communities and to invest in today’s youth,” said Francois Wahl, Director of Bou Dit Hardware (Pty) Ltd.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to build in both towns and to make a lasting difference.” The two Build it branches said the Soccer Fun Days form part of their commitment to supporting local communities and creating opportunities for young people.

With their “Yes We Can” approach, the businesses aim to continue combining their commercial presence with community investment and youth development in Walvis Bay and Rehoboth.
