Celtic and Blue Boys Face Tough SSFD Start

Coastal Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) sides Celtic FC and Blue Boys FC will begin their 2026/2027 campaigns away from home when the new season kicks off on 31 October.

The opening fixtures, released by the Namibia Football Association (NFA), will see 12 teams launch their campaigns over the weekend, with six matches scheduled for Saturday, 31 October, and another six on Sunday, 1 November.

Celtic FC face an immediate test against Try Again FC at J. Stephanus Stadium on Saturday before travelling to Oranjemund to take on Oranjemund FC at Oranjemund Soccer Field on Sunday. Blue Boys FC will also start on the road, facing Oranjemund FC on Saturday before taking on Try Again FC at J. Stephanus Stadium the following day.

The back-to-back fixtures against the same two opponents, in different order, will test both coastal teams’ preparation, consistency and ability to collect early points. The opening weekend offers the two sides an early opportunity to build momentum, although Celtic and Blue Boys will need to navigate demanding away assignments from the outset.

Elsewhere, Mariental Sport Club will host DTS FC at Persianer Sports Stadium, while Classic FC take on Friends FC at Reho Stadium on Saturday. Sunday’s fixtures will see Classic FC face DTS FC at Reho Stadium, while Mariental Sport Club host Friends FC at Persianer Sports Stadium. Quiver FC, will open against City Boys FC on Saturday, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

They will then face Young African FC on Sunday, also at a venue still to be announced. Young African FC will meet Dates Eleven FC on Saturday before facing Quiver FC on Sunday. City Boys FC will take on Quiver FC on Saturday and Dates Eleven FC the following day.

The venues for the Young African FC versus Dates Eleven FC and City Boys FC versus Quiver FC matches on Saturday remain unconfirmed. With the season opener drawing closer, the coastal teams will be eager to make their mark and secure valuable points as the race for Southern Stream First Division honours gets underway.
