The Youth Entrepreneurial Development Initiative (YEDI), initiated by the Swakopmund Municipality, in collaboration with Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine last year, is in full swing, as per the public relations officer of the Swakopmund Municipality, Linda Mupupa.
She yesterday informed Namib Times that the first batch of handovers to beneficiaries will take place this month. Mupupa further noted that quotations have been sent to the sponsor (Langer Heinrich), and they are busy with the procurement process, where after beneficiaries will be contacted for the handover. More than 80 Swakopmund youths and entrepreneurs (aged 18–35) will benefit from this transformative programme designed to empower local youth and small business owners by providing them with the tools, training, and support needed to compete and thrive in today’s business environment.
YEDI is the brainchild of former Swakopmund Mayor Blasius Goraseb, inspired by his first-hand experiences with young people who frequently approached his office seeking support to further their studies, acquire business equipment, or find a pathway to financial independence. Langer Heinrich Uranium Mine is supporting the YEDI programme with a contribution of N$1 million.
