A field of 32 players, including 12 visitors from Windhoek, took part in Saturday’s golf competition at the Walvis Bay Golf Club, sponsored by Indongo Toyota Walvis Bay.

Bertus Venter and Thomas Wolff emerged victorious in the Betterball Stableford competition with 42 points. Kevin Wentzel and Christopher Hill claimed second place, edging out David Peake and Simon Thompson on a count-out after both pairs finished on 41 points. Koot Potgieter won the nearest-to-the-pin prize on the 11th hole, while Rinus Carstens, Shane Westerdale and Potgieter each recorded a two-club.

The club expressed its appreciation to Indongo Toyota for sponsoring the competition and said it looks forward to welcoming the company back next year. Meanwhile, the club held its Annual General Meeting on 19 August, with João Sardinha elected president, Andre Burger as chairman and Bertus Venter as captain. Additional committee members are Tienie de Wet, Willie van Zyl, Willie Venter, Nardo Sardinha and Jonathan Mather.

In Thursday’s Seniors competition, Fred Bosse won with 36 points, followed by Peter Davidson on 34 and Henjan van der Hyde on 33. The brood was won by Bossie Bosman.

The next competition on Saturday will be sponsored by Bachmus and will feature Medal on the first nine and Stableford on the second nine, with the lowest score winning.

The upcoming competition schedule includes Bachmus on 29 August, Nedbank for Good on 5 September, Local SAGES on 6 September, Chain Fundraiser on 11 September, Concord on 12 September and Multisave Medal on 19 September.
