Great joy and excitement filled the hearts of residents of the Kuisebmond Old Age Home when they were treated to a special day trip to Swakopmund on Saturday, 12 September.

The outing was organised by Ryan Gordon and the Noble Hearts Foundation, who gave the elderly an opportunity to get out, enjoy the fresh air and spend a memorable day exploring some of Swakopmund’s attractions. Before entering Swakopmund, the group stopped to take photographs and enjoy the scenery. They then had a quick glimpse of how camel riding operates, before making their way to the Natura Gardens.

The gardens provided another opportunity for the residents to enjoy the surroundings and take photographs, with the ladies enjoying the chance to capture some special moments. The group then made a turn at the Snake Park. While some of the elderly chose not to take part in this part of the outing, the stop still provided something different to see and experience.

The next stop was the museum at the Mole, where many of the residents had the opportunity to visit the museum for the first time. Before entering the museum, everyone received a quick snack of a pie and juice, giving the group some refreshments before continuing with the day’s activities. The outing was rounded off on the way back to Walvis Bay with a braai at Langstrand giving everyone an opportunity to relax, enjoy some food and reflect on a day filled with laughter, sightseeing and new experiences. For the residents, the day was an opportunity to get out of their usual surroundings, spend time together and create memories that they can cherish.
