MTC Tops Namibias Public Enterprise Governance Rankings

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has been ranked Namibia’s best-governed commercial public enterprise in the inaugural IJG Annual Public Enterprise Governance Ranking 2026, cementing its reputation for strong corporate governance, financial discipline and sustainable business performance.

The independent ranking assessed commercial public enterprises over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, evaluating organisations on governance and performance indicators including transparency, profitability, contributions to the national fiscus and executive leadership stability. MTC emerged as the country’s top-performing public enterprise, reflecting its commitment to accountability, innovation and responsible leadership.

Commenting on the achievement, MTC’s Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, credited the company’s Board of Directors for its governance leadership and said the recognition reflects the strong organisational culture built over the years. “Being recognised for sound governance speaks to the culture we have built and continue to value, one anchored on integrity, accountability, innovation and performance.

Governance is not merely a compliance exercise for MTC; it is embedded in how we lead, make decisions and create sustainable value for our shareholders and the nation,” he said.

Ekandjo added that the recognition would inspire the company to continue raising governance standards while driving Namibia’s digital transformation. MTC made history in 2021 when it became the first Namibian public enterprise to list on the Namibian Stock Exchange through its landmark Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Since then, the telecommunications provider has maintained consistent profitability, delivered solid returns to shareholders and made significant contributions to the national fiscus. The latest ranking further reinforces MTC’s position as a leader in corporate governance and institutional excellence, demonstrating that transparency, stable leadership and sound management remain key drivers of long-term commercial success.

The company says it remains committed to delivering value to shareholders, customers and the Namibian public while continuing to play a leading role in the country’s digital and economic development.
