The Youth in Oil & Gas Summit (YIOGS) has officially launched a new partnership with the ONS Foundation, the youth engagement initiative of Norway’s Offshore Northern Seas (ONS), during the

The partnership aims to strengthen youth participation, knowledge sharing and skills development between Namibia and Norway’s energy sectors. It will give young professionals, entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders opportunities to learn from international experts while benefiting from Norway’s experience in offshore development, local content and supply-chain growth. YIOGS Founder, Justina Erastus, said the partnership will open important doors for young Namibians. “This partnership gives young Namibians access to knowledge, networks and international experience that will help them contribute meaningfully to the sector,” she said.

Developing the skills, knowledge and professional networks of young people is seen as key to supporting the country’s expanding oil and gas industry. Norway’s success in building a globally competitive energy sector while creating opportunities for local businesses also offers valuable lessons for Namibia. The collaboration will also create a platform for young professionals and entrepreneurs from both countries to exchange ideas, build industry connections and explore new opportunities in the changing energy landscape. By connecting youth networks in Namibia and Norway, the partners hope to encourage innovation, strengthen skills development and build long-term cooperation.

Advisor to the ONS Foundation, Christopher Hoftun, said the partnership will benefit young people in both countries. “Collaboration between Namibia and Norway creates opportunities for young people to learn from one another, exchange knowledge and build lasting professional relationships,” he said. The partnership was officially launched during the Youth in Oil &Gas Summit 2026 and lays the foundation for ongoing cooperation between the Namibian and Norwegian youth energy sectors.

Going forward, the partners plan to expand knowledge-sharing opportunities, strengthen international relationships and support initiatives that prepare young people for careers in the future energy industry. Through the collaboration, YIOGS and the ONS Foundation have reaffirmed their shared commitment to empowering young people and ensuring they play an important role in sustainable energy development and long-term economic growth.
