Motorists travelling along Trunk Road 201 near Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay are advised to expect possible delays as road construction and upgrading works continue in the area.
According to a public notice issued by the Municipality of Walvis Bay, the partial road closure began on 9 October and is expected to remain in place until 9 December 2026. The works are being carried out by the Roads Authority (RA), with Unik Construction Engineering appointed as the contractor.
The affected section of road, formerly known as Main Road 36, is between the traffic circle and the signalised intersection near Dunes Mall. Two of the existing four lanes will be closed during the construction period, with one lane remaining open in each direction to allow traffic to continue moving through the area. The existing traffic signals at the affected intersection will temporarily be replaced by a four-way stop. Temporary traffic signs and other traffic control measures will be put in place, while access to local properties and businesses will be maintained.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution when travelling through the area, obey all traffic signs and allow for possible delays. The municipality has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked road users for their patience and cooperation during the construction period.
