Rehoboth Mayor visits walvis 1

The Mayor of Rehoboth, Cllr. Jack Jackson #Khariseb, paid a courtesy visit to the Walvis Bay Municipality this week as part of an effort to strengthen cooperation and share ideas between local authorities.

Cllr. #Khariseb was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Walvis Bay, Cllr. Miina Hangula, and the Chairperson of the Management Committee, Cllr. Ephraim Shozi. The visit focused on sharing knowledge and experiences on municipal governance, service delivery and the daily operations of local authorities.

The two municipalities also discussed common challenges faced by councils and explored possible solutions through co-operation and learning from each other. During the visit, Cllr. #Khariseb extended an official invitation to the Walvis Bay Council to attend the Rehoboth Mayoral Fundraising Gala, which will take place on 1 August 2026.

This year’s gala aims to raise funds to support young people by helping them develop entrepreneurship opportunities and turn business ideas into sustainable ventures. The initiative is being supported through collaboration with partners including the National Housing Enterprise (NHE), the Social Security Commission (SSC) and the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN), with a focus on youth empowerment and economic development.

The visit concluded with both municipalities reaffirming their commitment to strengthening relations, sharing knowledge and working together for the benefit of their communities.
