The Swakopmund Municipality recently hosted its second public engagement for 2026, bringing together residents of DRC Seaside Extensions 24, 25, 37, and 38 for an afternoon of information sharing and community dialogue.

The meeting, held on Sunday, 19 April at ERF 4689 in DRC, formed part of Council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen communication with residents and provide updates on strategic plans and development projects. Residents were welcomed by the Mayor of Swakopmund, Her Worship Cllr Suamma Kautondokwa, who officially opened the session. In her address, she emphasised the importance of community engagement and transparency in municipal governance. The purpose of the meeting was to brief residents on both ongoing and upcoming projects undertaken by Council, while also introducing newly appointed Local Authority Councillors. The platform allowed residents to raise questions, voice concerns, and engage directly with municipal leadership. Safety and security also formed a key part of the discussions. Commissioner Kaupombone addressed attendees on crime-related matters and ongoing policing efforts in the region. In addition, the municipality’s Fire Fighting Department shared practical fire safety tips, encouraging residents to adopt preventative measures within their homes and neighbourhoods.

The municipality expressed its appreciation to residents who attended the meeting, noting the importance of public participation in building informed and resilient communities.
