Rugby fans are in for another exciting chapter in one of Namibia’s oldest rivalries when FNB Dolphin Rugby Club hosts FNB Kudus Rugby Club in a crucial Namibia Rugby Union Premier League coastal derby at the Tamariskia Sports Field in Swakopmund on Saturday.
Kudus travel to Swakopmund full of confidence after their impressive 53-38 victory over Montego United last weekend, a result that strengthened their position in the top half of the standings. Dolphin, meanwhile, will be eager to bounce back on home soil and secure local bragging rights by defeating their Walvis Bay rivals in front of their supporters.
With pride, passion and crucial league points at stake, another fiercely contested battle is expected between two of Namibia’s traditional rugby powerhouses. The coastal rivals have produced many memorable encounters over the years, and Saturday’s clash is expected to add another thrilling chapter to their rich history.
The day’s programme begins with the Under-19 match at 11:00, followed by the Reserve League fixture at 14:00. The Premier League showdown kicks off at 15:45, with both teams chasing valuable points in the race for the playoffs.
Elsewhere on Saturday, league leaders FNB Wanderers will look to strengthen their grip on top spot when they travel to face FNB Reho Falcon. Second-placed FNB Grootfontein face a potentially difficult home assignment against FNB Rehoboth as they aim to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
In Windhoek, FNB Unam host FNB Western Suburbs. Unam will start as favourites to secure maximum points, although Western Suburbs arrive with renewed confidence following their convincing 61-26 victory over Reho Falcon.
