Namibian triathletes delivered strong performances at the 2026 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup in Kilifi, Kenya, with all three representatives securing impressive results across the elite and youth categories.

The Namibian team comprised Jana Mutschler, Maximilian Betts and Johannes Jacob “James” Langford, accompanied by National Coach Adele de la Rey. Competing in the sprint-distance event, which consisted of a 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre cycle and 5-kilometre run, the Namibian athletes produced competitive performances against some of the region’s leading developing triathletes.

Mutschler delivered the standout performance among the Namibian women, finishing third overall in the Elite Women’s category in a time of 1:20:07. She also claimed second place in the Youth Category.

In the men’s event, Maximilian Betts finished fourth overall in the Elite Men’s category with a time of 1:00:17, earning second place in the U23 Category. Langford completed the Elite Men’s race in 10th place overall in 1:08:19, while securing third place in the Youth Category.

The results highlight the growing potential of Namibia’s young triathletes and provide valuable international racing experience as they prepare for future competitions.

The Regional Development Cup forms part of the development pathway for athletes seeking to gain exposure to international competition and test themselves against emerging talent from across the region.

The Namibia Triathlon Federation congratulated the athletes and coach on their performances and said the team’s efforts demonstrated the potential of Namibia’s developing triathlon programme.

The federation also wished the athletes continued success as they build towards future international events while proudly representing Namibia on the regional and international stage.
