Walvis Bay Private School has emerged as the top-performing school in the Erongo Region and ranked eighth nationally following the release of the 2025 provisional NSSCO and NSSCAS examination results.
The school also produced the top Ordinary Level performer in Erongo, with Liam Blaauw placing among the top 20 learners nationally, a notable achievement announced by Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Dr Sanet Steenkamp. Releasing the results, Steenkamp reported an improved national performance in the 2025 NSSCO examinations. She said 40.3% of candidates achieved the minimum 25 points across five subjects required to progress to the NSSCAS level, up from 34.6% in 2024. In total, 13,921 learners qualified for progression to Advanced Subsidiary level.
The minister commended learners, teachers, examination officials and partners, including Cambridge University Press & Assessment, for ensuring the credibility and international bench-marking of the examinations. She noted that the 2025 cohort showed resilience, having lost significant classroom time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steenkamp reaffirmed that NSSCO and NSSCAS examinations remain a cornerstone of confidence in Namibia’s education system and a key tool for measuring progress toward national development goals.
