Langer Heinrich Uranium (LHU) has donated a fully equipped 4×4 off-road ambulance to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) Erongo Directorate to improve emergency medical response in the Arandis constituency and surrounding communities.
The handover took place as part of the mining company’s continued support for healthcare services in the Erongo Region. The ambulance is expected to enhance access to emergency care, especially in remote and difficult terrain where standard emergency vehicles often face challenges. LHU said it has so far invested in seven ambulances for the MoHSS Erongo Directorate, including five new standard fully equipped ambulances and two off-road ambulances. The ambulances serve communities in Arandis, Omaruru, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Henties Bay, with a combined value of more than N$6.1 million.
LHU Superintendent for Operational Risk Management and Integrated Management Systems, Angelika Nakatana, underscored LHU’s commitment to practical, community-focused support. “This support is close to home. Our employees, contractors and their families live in these communities and depend on the same public services,” Nakatana said. “By supporting emergency healthcare, we are helping build safer, healthier and more resilient communities. This contribution reflects our belief that responsible mining extends beyond our operations; it means forming meaningful partnerships that improve lives where they matter most.”
