
Emergency services responded to a reported possible drowning at Platz Am Meer in Swakopmund earlier this evening after it was reported that a person was seen struggling in the water as darkness fell.
The Swakopmund Fire Department responded to the scene and carried out a search. However, the person could not be found.
The search is expected to continue at first light, when Monarch Lifeguard and the Namibian Navy will return to the area to assess the situation and continue efforts.
Monarch Lifeguard has asked the public to keep the missing person, their loved ones and the rescue teams in their thoughts during this difficult time.
