Sparta Rugby Club claimed local bragging rights after holding off a spirited Vikings Rugby Club fightback to secure a hard-fought 27-22 victory in an entertaining Namibia Rugby fixture on Saturday.

Sparta produced a disciplined and determined display, making the most of their scoring opportunities to establish an advantage before withstanding sustained pressure from the Vikings in the closing stages.

The match was closely contested throughout, with both teams displaying physicality, attacking intent and commitment on defence. Vikings refused to back down and kept themselves in the contest with a late rally, but Sparta held their composure to deny their opponents a comeback and seal the five-point win.

The victory is another confidence boost for Sparta as they continue their campaign, while Vikings will take positives from a spirited performance despite falling just short.
