The Khomas Region has been crowned the overall winner of the 29th Annual Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) Sports Championship after a highly competitive tournament that brought together athletes and teams from across the country in Swakopmund.
The championship showcased talent, teamwork and sporting excellence, with participating regions competing in a variety of sporting and recreational disciplines.
Khomas delivered an impressive all-round performance, securing gold medals in netball, men’s and women’s volleyball, and women’s football, while also collecting silver medals in men’s and women’s darts and athletics. The region’s consistent performances across the various disciplines ultimately earned it the coveted overall championship title.
In men’s darts, Kavango West claimed gold, followed by Khomas in second place and Ohangwena in third. Omaheke dominated the women’s category, with Khomas taking silver and Oshana bronze.
Otjozondjupa emerged victorious in men’s catapult, with Omaheke second and Ohangwena third. In the women’s competition, Oshana secured gold, ahead of Omaheke and Oshikoto. Oshikoto won the men’s pool table competition, with Hardap taking silver and Oshana bronze.
Erongo claimed the women’s pool table title, followed by Kunene and Omusati. Khomas also proved too strong in netball, taking the gold medal ahead of Otjozondjupa and Omaheke.
The volleyball competitions saw Khomas complete a double triumph. The region won both the men’s and women’s volleyball titles, with Otjozondjupa finishing second in both categories and Erongo securing bronze.
In men’s football, Oshana claimed gold, followed by Kunene and Khomas. Khomas, however, secured the women’s football championship, with Hardap and //Kharas sharing silver and Omaheke taking bronze.
Athletics was another closely contested discipline, with Oshana finishing first, Khomas second and Omaheke third.
The championship once again highlighted the importance of sport in promoting teamwork, discipline, camaraderie and healthy competition within the Namibian Police Force. Organisers congratulated all participating regions, athletes, officials and supporters for contributing to the success of the 29th annual championship.
With Khomas Region taking the overall crown, the event concluded on a high note, celebrating not only sporting achievement but also unity and team spirit among members of the police force.
