A total of 43 golfers recently took part in the Individual Stableford competition at the Walvis Bay Golf Club, with Wouter Van Wijk delivering an outstanding performance to claim victory with 43 points.

Richard Majangara secured second place on 40 points after a strong comeback on the second nine, while Gideon Kok finished third on 39 points, winning the count-out.

Kevin Wentzel claimed the nearest-to-the-pin prize on the second hole, while six golfers recorded two-clubs: Jacques Colananni, Wentzel, Kok, Wayne Hart, Piet Van Niekerk and Van Wijk.

In last Wednesday’s competition on 7 October, Hart claimed first place, followed by Van Wijk, while Schalk Van Wyk finished third.

The seniors competition on Thursday saw Koos Jakobs take the honours with 36 points. Bossie Bosman finished second on 31 points, followed by Hoffie Viljoen on 30 points.

The club’s seniors league team also travelled to Henties Bay to face their counterparts, returning with three hard-fought points.

Attention now turns to Saturday’s Fox Designs and WBM Betterball competition. The format will combine medal play on the first nine holes and Stableford on the second nine, with players subtracting their second-nine score from their first-nine score. The lowest result wins.

Meanwhile, the deadline for completing the DMSS matchplay competition has been extended to 31 October. Matches not completed by the deadline will be forfeited.
