Rudi Auseb Jr claimed the biggest title of his golfing career after being crowned Rossmund Golf Club Champion at the club’s annual championships, proudly sponsored by Marsh Namibia.
More than 30 members competed over 36 holes during the two-day tournament, which tested golfers’ consistency and endurance on the Rossmund course. The event produced two new champions, with Auseb emerging as the standout performer. Auseb secured the overall title with a gross score of 150, finishing six strokes clear of defending champion Fritz Coetzee II, who ended on 156.
The young champion’s victory reflects his steady progress over recent years. A member of the club’s development programme, Auseb was recently selected to represent Namibia at junior level and has continued to impress with his performances.
Club captain George Murasiki claimed the overall nett title with an excellent score of 136, while Mark Jacobs finished runner-up on 139.
In the A Division, Mario Polster won the gross competition with 163, edging Hans Naobeb by a single stroke. Fred Bossé topped the nett standings on 150, with Douw van Wyk finishing second on 151. Lukas Steven claimed the B Division gross title with 173, ahead of Helmut Ndjendja on 176. Henry Louw won the nett category with 151, followed by Steven Johns on 154. Chris Magson captured the C Division gross honours with a score of 187, while Clive Lawrence finished runner-up on 195. R. Opperman Jr produced the best nett score in the division with 144, ahead of Livui Enache on 153.
In the ladies’ competition, Heidi van Niekerk was crowned Ladies Club Champion after posting a gross score of 197. Justine Shikulo finished runner-up on 224, while Rina Knight claimed the ladies’ nett title with a score of 151.
Rossmund Golf Club thanked long-time sponsor Marsh Namibia for its continued support of the annual championships, which remain one of the highlights of the club’s golfing calendar. The tournament once again showcased the depth of talent at the club and provided a fitting stage to crown its newest champions.
