The increase, which takes effect on April 1, 2026, will see petrol prices rise by N$2.50 per litre, while both diesel variants will go up by N$4.00 per litre. The adjustment is expected to place additional pressure on consumers and businesses already grappling with rising living costs.

In Walvis Bay, Petrol 95 will now retail at N$22.08 per litre, while Diesel 50ppm and Diesel 10ppm will cost N$23.63 and N$23.73 per litre, respectively. Fuel prices in other parts of the country will be adjusted in line with these changes.

Amutse explained that Cabinet has approved a temporary 50% reduction in fuel levies for a period of three months to help cushion the impact on consumers. Despite the increase, he reassured the public that Namibia has sufficient fuel reserves to meet demand for at least two months and that there are currently no supply disruptions.

He stressed that the price adjustments are precautionary measures aimed at managing potential risks within the fuel supply chain. The minister also urged the public to avoid panic-buying and warned against unsafe bulk fuel storage, noting the potential dangers involved.

Furthermore, Amutse cautioned against the illegal resale of fuel, emphasising that only authorised entities are permitted to sell fuel in the country.
