A Swakopmund-based football club, CR7 Football Club in collaboration with their official sponsor, OHB Engineering last Saturday contributed to Ann’s Soup Kitchen in Swakopmund’s DRC informal settlement, providing much-needed food supplies and also assisted with the preparation and distribution of meals to people in need.

The donation included bags of potatoes, cooking oil, vegetables, pasta and other food items, as well as snack items. The aim was to contribute practical, nutritious ingredients that could be used by the soup kitchen to prepare meals for the community.

The initiative forms part of CR7 Football Club and OHB Engineering’s broader commitment to supporting the local community beyond sport and business. By contributing essential food supplies, the organisations hope to make a meaningful difference to families and individuals who rely on community-based assistance.

Approximately 300 vulnerable children and adults were served on the day. “We believe that football and business are not only about what happens on the field or in the workplace, but also about making a positive difference in the communities around us”.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the soup kitchen and to support those who need assistance. Even a small contribution can go a long way when we work together. We encourage other individuals, businesses and organisations to support initiatives that provide food and assistance to those in need,” is the message from the Club’s chairperson, Owen Beukes, team manager Lameck Haufiku and the management of OHB Engineering.

The organisations also expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the soup kitchen initiative and to those who continue to give their time and resources to support the community.

“Our donation is about more than food it is about showing care, solidarity and responsibility towards our community. We hope our contribution will help the soup kitchen continue the important work of providing meals to those in need,” Mr Owen Beukes remarked.

CR7 Football Club is currently playing in the Erongo Second Division League and has already made their mark as a formidable opponent to be reckoned with, after finishing second in the 2025/26 season.
