A 35-year-old motorcyclist sustained head injuries after a car allegedly collided with his motorcycle from behind in Walvis Bay on Saturday evening.

According to Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula of the Erongo police, the accident occurred at about 20:44 in Nangolo Mbumba Avenue, in front of Walvis Bay Private School.

Senior Inspector Shomongula said it is alleged that a maroon Volkswagen Polo Vivo, registered in Swakopmund, collided with a Suzuki Hayabusa from behind.

The 35-year-old Namibian man was taken to Welwitchia Private Hospital for observation. He was reported to be in a stable condition and was discharged on Sunday.

A 30-year-old Namibian woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She was released on N$8 000 bail and is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations are continuing.
