The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) is investigating a serious cybersecurity incident after a ransomware group allegedly accessed and exfiltrated large volumes of company data.
In a media statement issued on Friday, NAC confirmed that the INC Ransom-ware Group is claiming to have stolen approximately 500 gigabytes of data from its systems. The breach was detected on 6 March with the group reportedly threatening to release the information on the dark web. Despite the incident, NAC assured the public that operations at all airports under its management remain fully functional, with no disruptions reported. The company has since intensified its cyber-security response, working with external experts, relevant authorities, and cybersecurity partners to contain the threat and assess the extent of the breach.
Additional system monitoring and security measures have also been implemented as a precaution. NAC emphasised that invetigations are ongoing and that it is treating the matter with urgency. The organisation further committed to maintaining transparency and providing updates as more verified information becomes available.
