
Namibia’s boxing scene is set for another exciting spectacle as the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy, backed by its core sponsor PstBet, prepares to host the ‘Local is Lekker’ Boxing Bonanza on 24 July at the Swakopmund Multipurpose Centre.
The tournament will feature nine professional bouts, including two national championship fights, showcasing some of Namibia’s most promising established and emerging boxers.
The main event will see undefeated Swakopmund boxer Joy Nangolo (8-0-1) take on Fabian Lameck (0-6-1) for the vacant National Bantamweight Championship over 10 rounds.
The co-main event will feature another unbeaten fighter, Fredrick Nghutunanye (12-0), who faces Paulus Shonena (3-4-1) for the National Junior Lightweight Championship in a scheduled 10-round contest.
The undercard opens with a four-round bantamweight contest between unbeaten Frans Shoombe (4-0) and Errikkie Mwandingange (2-0), followed by a junior welterweight clash between Jonas Jonas (3-1-1) and Nicanor Halweendo (0-12-1).
In the super bantamweight division, experienced Nestor Thomas (11-2) takes on Phillipus Mateus (1-3), while unbeaten Trofimus Johanness (1-0) faces Samuel Mwatumbange (0-4-1) in a four-round super flyweight contest.
The six-round super welterweight bout will pit unbeaten Martin Kambalili (4-0) against Gabriel Shimweetheleni (1-3).
Another unbeaten boxer, Tangeni Salomon (7-0), will meet Emmanuel Jason (1-7-1) in a four-round lightweight contest, while veteran Immanuel Mungangela (20-5-1) faces Simon Shafodino (3-6-2) over six rounds in the welterweight division.
