Oceans Rugby Club claimed local bragging rights after holding off a determined Sparta Rugby Club side for a hard-fought 27–21 victory in the Namibia Rugby First Division coastal derby on Saturday 15 August in Walvis Bay.

The match lived up to its billing, with both teams producing an entertaining contest marked by physical forward play and quick attacking rugby. Sparta established an early advantage, but Sparta refused to let the game slip away, keeping the scoreboard close throughout the afternoon.

Leading 12–10 at halftime, Oceans returned with renewed intensity and stretched their lead with a series of well-worked attacks. Sparta responded with two determined scoring opportunities to remain within touching distance, setting up a tense finish.

Despite the late pressure, Oceans defence held firm in the closing stages to secure the six-point victory and valuable First Division points.

The win strengthens Oceans campaign in the Namibia Rugby First Division, while Sparta can take encouragement from a spirited performance that pushed their local rivals to the final whistle in one of the season’s most competitive coastal derbies.
