A pedestrian died in a road accident in Karibib on Friday evening. Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula of the Erongo police said the incident occurred at about 20:00 opposite the Ministry of Agriculture premises.

According to Senior Inspector Shomongula, a 38-year-old Namibian man was driving a white Toyota single cab from the direction of Navachab Mine towards Karibib when a pedestrian suddenly crossed the road.

The driver allegedly could not avoid the collision and struck the man, who sustained fatal injuries. Navachab paramedics attended the scene and declared him dead.

Police said the body was later transported to the Usakos State Hospital mortuary. The man has not yet been identified.

Police said he was tall and of medium build, and believed to be between 50 and 60 years old. He was wearing a blue overall jacket, red shirt, blue denim skinny trousers, black flip-flops and a black cap.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have a missing relative or friend matching the description to assist with his identification.
