Desert Foxes Football Club has received a major boost both on and off the field after Rössing Uranium donated new sports kits to the club while it simultaneously launched a recruitment drive to strengthen its technical team ahead of the new season.

The donation underscores Rössing Uranium’s continued commitment to empowering communities and advancing women’s sport in Namibia. Desert Foxes, based in Walvis Bay, compete in the Namibia Women’s Super League and remains a key driver of women’s football development along the coast. Rössing Uranium said it is proud to support the club and its athletes as they continue to inspire young girls to pursue their sporting dreams, compete with passion and represent the region with pride.

Desert Foxes FC chairman Paulus Shipanga welcomed the contribution, describing it as an investment in the future of women’s football. “Your support is an investment in the dreams, confidence and future of every young woman who proudly wears our badge,” Shipanga said.

He added that the club is honoured by Rössing Uranium’s belief in its vision and commitment to empowering women through sport.

“Together, we are creating opportunities, inspiring the next generation and proving that, with the right support, anything is possible,” he said.

Shipanga thanked the mining company for standing alongside the club and pledged that Desert Foxes would continue striving for excellence both on and off the field.

Alongside the donation, the club has announced plans to expand its technical department as it prepares for future competitions.

Desert Foxes is recruiting for four positions:

Head Coach (Male or Female)

Assistant Coach (Female)

Club Medic (Female)

Fitness Coach (Male or Female, ad-hoc basis)

The club is seeking passionate, committed and trustworthy individuals who share its vision of developing women’s football and nurturing local talent. Prospective applicants are invited to request the full application requirements by emailing desertfoxesfc@gmail.com, with sports CVs and supporting documents to be submitted to the same address.

Club officials believe strengthening the technical team will enhance player development and help Desert Foxes build on the progress made in recent seasons. With its “Join the Pack!” recruitment campaign and renewed corporate backing, Desert Foxes is positioning itself for continued growth while reinforcing its mission of creating opportunities for female footballers in the Erongo Region and beyond.
