Rossmund Golf Club enjoyed a busy weekend of competitive golf, with players taking part in two sponsored events that produced strong performances and a host of individual winners.
Saturday, 12 September, saw the third leg of the 2026 MEDIXX Occupational Health Services sponsorship, with golfers tackling an unusual Medal Stableford format.
The format required players to complete nine holes of Medal Nett and nine holes of Stableford, providing an interesting challenge that tested both skill and strategy.
With a decent field and favourable golfing conditions, the competition was closely contested. Mark Jacobs and Fritz Coetzee recorded the day’s two-clubs, while Steven Johns and Rudi Auseb Jr claimed the nearest-to-the-pin prizes on holes seven and 12 respectively.
Lukas Steven emerged as the overall winner with 12 points, joking that he “could just not put a foot wrong” during his round.
Mark Jacobs continued his strong form to finish second on 15 points, while Jean Du Toit claimed third place with 17 points on a count-out over Helmut Ndjendja. Liviu Enache completed the top five with 19 points after another count-out.
Rossmund Golf Club thanked MEDIXX Occupational Health Services for its continued annual sponsorship. The final leg will be incorporated into the club’s annual Pink Ball Golf Day on Saturday, 14 November, which will be played in a Foursomes format.
Sunday, 13 September, brought another day of action as golfers competed in the club’s Monthly Sages, sponsored by Thovo Therm.
The club expressed its appreciation to Tommy Zwar for his continued support of golf at Rossmund and for joining the players for the day.
Mark Jacobs, Grant Theu and Rory Wolhuter all recorded two-clubs. The nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Jacobs on No.7, Theu on No.12 and Wolhuter on No.16, while Theu also claimed the nearest-to-the-pin in two shots on No.4.
Heidi Van Niekerk topped the Sunday standings with an impressive 39 points, followed by Achmet Abrahams on 38 and Jacobs on 37.
Theu, visiting from Johannesburg, finished fourth with 36 points, while John Horne rounded out the top five on 35 points after a count-out over Clive Lawrence.
It was another successful weekend at Rossmund, combining competitive golf, strong sponsorship support and a great spirit of camaraderie on the course.
