Herman Smidt produced a stunning round to claim top honours in Saturday’s Individual with a Twist competition at the Walvis Bay Golf Club, Click the link below. where 28 players battled it out for bragging rights.

The event was sponsored by Bachmus, with the club expressing its appreciation to the sponsor for supporting the competition and confirming its return as sponsor next year.

The unusual format combined net medal scoring on the first nine holes with Stableford scoring on the back nine, with the lowest overall result declared the winner. Smidt was in devastating form, finishing on an impressive 11 to comfortably take first place.

Nathaniel Mudzingwa followed in second on 13, while Deville Dreyer secured third place on 17 after winning the count-out. The competition also produced two clubs, with both Smidt and Dreyer recording the feat. Kevin Wentzel and Christopher Hill emerging victorious in the Wednesday Heroes Challenge after scoring 49 points. Bertus Venter and Thomas Wolff finished second on 43 points, while Jakkie de Witt and Gideon Kok claimed third place with 42.

Pierre Sowden and Jan Steenkamp took fourth place after winning a count-out on 40 points. Attention now turns to the Nedbank for Good Series, which will be hosted by the Walvis Bay Golf Club on Saturday, 5 September.

The club’s upcoming calendar includes Local SAGES on 6 September, the Chain Fundraiser on 11 September, Concord on 12 September and the Multisave Medal on 19 September.

The course will close from 21 to 27 September for greens maintenance. With a packed schedule ahead, competition at the Walvis Bay Golf Club is set to remain fierce as players chase victories, prizes and valuable bragging rights.
