Three coastal men’s netball players have been rewarded for their impressive performances after earning places in Netball Namibia’s 18-player national training squad.

Tangent Given Sheende, Vendamuje Musumbani and Telwin Tjiuongua, all representing the Erongo Region, were selected following the Male National Team trials held on 23 and 24 July 2026.

Their inclusion marks a significant achievement for coastal netball and highlights the growing strength of the sport in the Erongo Region. The training squad will begin preparations as Netball Namibia continues to build a competitive national side for upcoming regional and international competitions.

The selected players will attend an upcoming national training camp, where they will compete for places in the final 15-player squad. The 18-player squad comprises athletes from eight regions across the country.

Otjozondjupa has the largest representation with five players, followed by Erongo with three and Ohangwena with two. Kavango East, Oshikoto, Hardap, Kunene, Omaheke, Oshana and Khomas are also represented.

The full squad consists of Tangent Given Sheende, Vendamuje Musumbani and Telwin Tjiuongua (Erongo); Makaya Frank Hamutenya and Joseph Shinyengu (Ohangwena); Genesius Matheus (Kavango East); Joseph Zaongara, Ambrosuis Eichab, Inselly Oxurub, Rivaldo G. Omeb and Valentino Tujentapi (Otjozondjupa); Leonard Somseh (Oshikoto); Suratiaan Khakisi (Hardap); Immanuel Uirab (Kunene); Tjirilya Mbaukua (Omaheke); Frans Indongo (Oshana); and Aron Ipinge and Dr Kotji Kavari (Khomas).

Netball Namibia congratulated the selected players for earning their places through their commitment, skill and determination during the selection process. The federation also thanked all athletes who participated in the trials, saying their passion and dedication continue to drive the growth of men’s netball in Namibia.

The training squad now turns its focus to the next phase of preparations as players battle for selection in the final national team.
