UNAM ended RDI Kudus’ unbeaten run in the NRU Reserve League, edging the Narraville side 33-30 in a thrilling final at a packed Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.
The closely contested encounter delivered a dramatic finish as UNAM claimed the title, denying Kudus the opportunity to complete a remarkable season after dominating the competition.
RDI Kudus entered the final as the team to beat, having won all 16 of their league matches, collecting 93 log points and scoring an impressive 905 points while conceding only 251. However, UNAM rose to the occasion when it mattered most, producing a determined performance to overturn the favourites and secure a memorable victory in front of a packed stadium.
The five-point margin underlined how closely matched the two sides were, with Kudus falling just short of extending their remarkable unbeaten record into the final. Despite the defeat, RDI Kudus’ season remains an outstanding achievement, with their consistency throughout the league campaign establishing them as one of the competition’s strongest sides.
For UNAM, the victory marks a significant triumph, dethroning a Kudus outfit that had looked virtually unstoppable throughout the regular season. Photo: Sport Wrap
