Benguella Fishing Company has donated 55 second-hand mattresses to the Seawork Cares Foundation, providing much-needed support to vulnerable children at the Learn in Peace centre in Walvis Bay.
The mattresses were recently delivered to the children, ensuring they have a safe and comfortable place to sleep. The donation is expected to improve their overall wellbeing, with quality rest playing an important role in children’s physical health, emotional development and ability to learn. The Seawork Cares Foundation expressed its gratitude to Benguella Fishing for the generous contribution, saying partnerships between businesses and community organisations continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. “Thank you, Benguella Fishing, for helping us make a difference, one good night’s sleep at a time,” the foundation said.
Founded in July 2019, the Seawork Cares Foundation focuses on supporting underprivileged children in rural Namibia through various community outreach initiatives. One of its primary objectives is to provide nutritious meals to children and adults at selected schools and soup kitchens across the country. The foundation said donations such as the mattresses complement its broader mission of improving the living conditions of vulnerable children by addressing both their nutritional and basic daily needs. The latest contribution highlights the positive impact that corporate social responsibility initiatives can have when businesses, charities and communities work together to uplift those facing hardship.
For the children at Learn in Peace, the donation represents more than just new bedding, it offers the comfort, security and opportunity for a better night’s sleep, laying the foundation for healthier and more productive days ahead. Pictures: Seawork Cares Foundation Facebook.
