A Karibib woman is set to turn every step into hope for animals in need when she tackles a 30-kilometre sponsored walk from Karibib to Usakos in support of the Have a Heart animal welfare initiative.
On Saturday, 8 August, Charlotte Moller will lace up her walking shoes and embark on the 30 km journey, aiming to raise funds to help Namibia’s dogs, cats and the families who care for them.
Moller is appealing to supporters to sponsor her at N$5 per kilometre, with a full sponsorship amounting to N$150.
Donors can choose to sponsor one kilometre, the entire route or contribute any amount towards the cause. Her husband will accompany her along the route, setting up a roadside support station where passing motorists can stop to offer encouragement, make donations or simply cheer her on.
Organisers are encouraging members of the public travelling between Karibib and Usakos, particularly those heading to Swakopmund for the weekend’s potjiekos competition and market, to keep an eye out for Moller and show their support. “Charlotte is giving Namibia’s dogs and cats 30 kilometres,” organisers said. “Let’s show her how much we appreciate what she’s doing.”
Funds raised through the walk will go towards Have a Heart’s ongoing work supporting animal welfare and assisting vulnerable pets and their owners across Namibia.
Those wishing to support the initiative can make donations directly to the Have a Heart fundraising campaign or join Moller for part of the walk by contacting 081 240 1453.
