Deputy Mayor Calls for Unity and Public Participation at Council Meeting
Walvuis bay town

Walvis Bay Deputy Mayor, Councillor Miina Hangula, has called on councillors, municipal officials and residents to work together to help drive the continued development of the town.

Speaking at the Ordinary Council Meeting, Councillor Hangula welcomed residents and members of the public who attended the meeting. She said public participation plays an important role in local government and encouraged residents to continue following council proceedings and staying involved in matters that affect their communities. She reminded councillors that their responsibility is to carefully consider the items on the council agenda and make decisions that improve the lives of the people they serve.

She added that council discussions should always be guided by accountability, transparency and the best interests of Walvis Bay. “The progress of Walvis Bay requires cooperation between Council, the Administration and our residents,” Hangula said. “When we work together and share a common vision, we can overcome challenges and continue taking our town to greater heights.” She also encouraged fellow councillors to approach discussions with professionalism, respect and a solutions-driven mindset.

At the same time, she thanked the municipal administration and staff for their preparation and support in helping council carry out its work. Hangula further urged residents to take part in upcoming public meetings that will be hosted by the Municipality of Walvis Bay. She said these meetings will give community members an opportunity to share their views, raise concerns and contribute to discussions on issues affecting the town.

The municipality will announce the dates and venues for the public meetings on its communication platforms.
