The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) has officially launched its Strategic Plan for 2025/26 to 2029/30, setting out a comprehensive roadmap aimed at accelerating Namibia’s industrialisation, strengthening the energy sector, and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.

The plan was launched on Wednesday by the Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, who described the strategy as a critical pillar in advancing Namibia’s long-term economic development goals. According to the Ministry, the Strategic Plan outlines clear priorities and measurable targets that will guide programmes and investments over the next five years. It places strong emphasis on responsible resource management, while unlocking opportunities for economic expansion and inclusive growth.

Amutse noted that the plan is designed to position Namibia as a competitive player in key sectors, particularly through value addition, improved energy security, and enhanced industrial capacity. These efforts are expected to contribute significantly to job creation and broader economic resilience. “The sustainable utilisation of our natural resources remains at the core of this strategy,” the Minister said, adding that the plan seeks to balance economic development with environmental responsibility to ensure long-term national prosperity.

The Ministry further highlighted its commitment to fostering an enabling environment for businesses and investors, while ensuring that communities benefit meaningfully from the country’s resource wealth.
