The Swakopmund Municipality is currently busy with the upgrading of a section of Grootfontein Street in Mondesa. The project, which has been awarded to Messr Paul and Lucy Investment CC at a contract value of N$12 273 634.04 (VAT inclusive), is expected to reach completion by 30 September 2026.

According to the municipality, the project involves the transformation of approximately 750 metres of Grootfontein Street, from its intersection with Regenstein Street to Ondjamba Avenue, upgrading the existing gravel road into a dual carriageway interlocked paved road. The Swakopmund municipality emphasised that this development would benefit residents in Extensions 7 and 8 in Mondesa, improving accessibility, road safety, and overall infrastructure in the area.

Residents and motorists are kindly urged to adhere to all temporary road signs and traffic directions in the construction area to ensure the safety of workers and road users. This initiative forms part of the Municipality’s continued efforts to enhance road infrastructure and improve service delivery for our community.
